State set to extend time for getting NOC: Joshi

Amritsar : The Punjab government will extended the time limit for getting no objection certificates (NOC) in the upcoming Cabinet meeting, said Local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi during a meeting held with the deed writers who were on strike for the last few days.
Joshi said that keeping in mind to give more relaxation to the illegal plot owners, the government decided to increase the time limit to register illegal plots. He made it clear that it does not mean to exonerate the illegal plot holder from the rule and it was necessary for every illegal plot holders to get the NOC.
He said that with the aim to provide better facilities to the illegal plot holders, the state government had started a unauthorised colonies regularisation scheme but due to false rumors of heavy amount, many plot holders did not deposit the amount.
He said that those plot holders who had deposited the fee they got the no objection certificates from the concerned department but those who still had not deposited the amount, the department would never issue the NOC.
The minister that it was a golden opportunity for the plot holders to get the NOC without paying any penalty. He assured the deed writers that a decision would be taken to extend the time limit for getting NOC in Cabinet meeting to be held soon.
He said that the Punjab government to take nominal charges as compared to the previous amount and the government had to suffer financial loss which directly affects the state budget.
Joshi said that he had already discussed about the matter with Chief Minister Parkash Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal and they had given approval to the proposal and soon it will be implemented.
It is important to mention here that the deed writers were on indefinite strike for the last few days in protest against the ban of issuance of the NOC.
