Talwandi Sabo : Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president, Partap Singh Bajwa, on Thursday said that there was no room for dissent and difference of opinion in state.

Comparing the SAD-BJP rule in state akin to that of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb he said that the present times are associated with repression and atrocities.

Along with the Congress candidate Harminder Singh Jassi he addressed election meetings in villages Jeon Singh Wala, Chathewal, Bhagiwander, Mahi Nangal, Laleana, Kamalu, Bangi Ruldu, Bangi Nihal and Rama Mandi.

Quoting the unrest in Haryana over issue of possession of gurdwaras, he said that due to the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Sikhs were pitted against the Sikhs. He held Parkash Singh Badal and SAD president and Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal responsible for triggering internecine war among Sikhs over control of management of gurdwaras. He added that it had sullied the image of community all over world and it would be advisable under given situation to wait for the outcome of the judicial intervention.

He pointed out that the issue now was purely legal and it was precisely because of this reason that the NDA government at centre in which Akali Dal is a partner had refused to intervene. The Haryana Gurdwara Act had been challenged in both the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the Supreme Court. The best course was to observe restraint and wait for the outcome of the judicial intervention, he added. He said long run solution was to go in for All India Gurdwara Legislation which had been the long pending demand of Akali Dal.

The PPCC chief said, “For the last several years, government and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal have been making tall claims about development but now suddenly, they have reverted to the panthic agenda to exploit the sentiments of the Sikhs.”

He slammed the SAD candidate, Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu as an opportunist who had left Congress for personal gains. He claimed Congress candidate Harminder Singh Jassi would make it to the Assembly with a big margin as the people were determined to teach a lesson to the opportunists.

He was accompanied by MLA Parminder Singh Pinky MLA, MLA Gurkirat Singh Kotli MLA, MLA Navtej Singh Cheema, General Secretary PPCC Harminder Singh Gill and others.
