AMRITSAR: Member of Parliament Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday expressed grave concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the holy city and asked police to take immediate remedial measures.
He was reacting to the abduction of the schoolboy from Ranjit Avenue on Wednesday.
Amarinder conveyed his serious concern to Amritsar police commissioner Jatinder Aulakh over the boy’s abduction.
In a press release, the Congress leader pointed out, “This was not an isolated incident, but one in a long series. Earlier, there was an incident of firing in the same area, besides an unsuccessful bid to abduct a girl and snatching of a car at the gunpoint.”
Amarinder warned that the law and order situation could not be allowed to drift like that, as there was a sense of fear and insecurity growing among the city residents. “I have been receiving dozens of phone calls from panic-stricken people, saying the incident has shaken them,” he said.
