Patiala : Appealing the people of Patiala to judge everybody by their performance, Congress candidate from Patiala (Urban) Preneet Kaur on Sunday challenged the Akalis for a debate on the development of the city.

She said that wherever the Akalis were trying to campaign they were being showered with inconvenient and uncomfortable questions to which they had no answers, as they had not done anything during the last seven and a half years of their rule for Patiala as development had come to a standstill here after they took over. “What to speak of any development in Patiala, they have rather sold the properties here and spent the money in Lambi and Bathinda,” she said while addressing a series of meetings at Jai Jawan Colony Badungar, Vikas Colony, Jeewan Singh Nagar, Gobind Nagar and Cota Raian.

Kaur also took a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for trying to hoodwink the voters without any concrete programme for development.

“They (AAP) are just projecting and propagating chaos,” she said, adding, Ask them what is their development agenda and how are they going to serve the constituency and solve its problems.”

The former Union minister said that the Akalis had themselves realised that they were on a weak wicket as they did not have any answers to people’s questions.

“That is why they are running away from real issues,” she said, adding, the development of Patiala city came to a halt the day Congress lost power and Akalis took over the reins of the government.

The Congress candidate also expressed her gratitude to the people of Patiala for continuously reposing unfailing faith in her.
