Ferozepur : While sharing the report of the Reserve bank of India for the year 2013-2014 that Punjab availed the overdraft for 49 days and resorted to ways and mean advances for 120 days, leader of opposition Sunil Jakhar said that all claims of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal have been contradicting the report of RBI and also showed the real picture of the claim of the state government that the state has better financial conditions.
Sunil Jakhar also expressed his concern over pathetic state of financial situation and said that in spite of friendly government at the Centre level, there is no improvement in fiscal management of the state, the situation is precarious as unpaid bills running in to crores of rupees, delay in salaries of government employees etc manifest poor financial position. Jakhar also claimed that “state has been living on the edges of borrowing and yet claim to be prosperous is nothing but obsessive hallucinations, and also have been trying to mislead people in to misbelieve and it’s a cruel joke perpetrated on the people of Punjab”. The Government employees especially the computer teachers have not been paid their salaries for months together, and the rightful claims of government employees with respect to medical bills, retirement benefits, advance against GPF, TA bills etc are lying uncleared in the treasuries and finance departments.
The employees as a consequence are under huge financial stress and are even unable to meet their day to day needs. If the claims of CM and Deputy CM about the normalcy in financial management are to be believed then why there is such a backlog of payments in each and every department of Punjab.
Our CM and Deputy CM may not be in the know of real situation at the ground, many government employees are spending form their own pocket to keep their department operational, and the Akali BJP government instead of being sympathetic is quelling their protest for just demands with iron fist. It is indeed shameful of the manner in which ETT teachers, PRTC employees and health workers are being beaten blue by Punjab police at the behest of political directions from the state government.
Jakhar said, “CM sahib, earlier you had an perfect alibi to blame UPA government for your financial mismanagements caused in fact due to your fiscal profligacy’s, now that you are partner and ally of the central government, people are waiting to see those truck loads of grants land from central government land on the soil of Punjab and the much hyped beginning of golden age in Punjab under Modi stewardship. People of Punjab are waiting for “achhay din”.
