Get victim’s body from US: Capt to Centre

Amritsar : Congress Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh today wrote to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, seeking her attention for the transportation of the body of Rajinder Kumar Sharma, an Amritsar resident who was shot dead in the US on Wednesday.

In his letter to Swaraj, copies of which have been sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Amarinder said the victim’s family had no clue how to get the body to India.

Employed at a gas station, Rajinder was shot dead while on duty. He belonged to Khandwala in Chheharta area of Amritsar and had been working in the US for the past three years.

The Amritsar MP urged Swaraj to direct the Indian Embassy in the US to make the necessary arrangements so that the body could be transported to India at the earliest.

Washington : The Indian-American community in the US has urged the Trump administration to “fully support” India’s decision to revoke the constitutional provision that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir and to continue to exert pressure on Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism.
