Talwandi Sabo (Bathinda) : Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa on Tuesday opposed the move to hike the power tariff and said the people were further going to penalized by the state government to cover the cost of inefficiency and leakage by way of corruption.
He asserted the Congress would oppose this hike tooth and nail. Speaking further during his campaign tour for party candidate Harminder Singh Jassi, Bajwa said the people were full of anger against Badal government.
He charged the Akali leaders of patronizing drug smuggling that ruined the youth in the state. The economy was at its lowest ebb and the state had a huge army of unemployed and unemployable youth, he added.
He slammed the state government for the power cuts, saying that Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal was claiming the state power surplus within three years but the factual position was totally different.
He claimed the people of Talwandi Sabo were totally disillusioned with this government which had even failed to speed up the relocation of Kanakwal village adjacent to the Guru Gobind Singh refinery.
Bhattal denies that HSGMC was formed for Haryana elections
Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal on Tuesday took a dig at the SAD and the SGPC for objecting to the formation of a separate Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee in Haryana.
“There are many gurdwaras belonging to other sects, like the Nihangs, why do SAD and the SGPC not talk of taking control of those gurdwaras while they object to the formation of HSGPC,” questioned Bhattal. She was here to hold election rallies in support of Congress candidate Harminder Singh Jassi at Talwandi Sabo constituency.
