Patiala : Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh has asked the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal whether he knew that there was a city called Patiala in Punjab. He said that while Badal had been holding his favourite Sangat Darshan programmes across the state from the day one, he never came to Patiala because of his aversion for the city and its people.

Addressing a largely attended public meeting at Ragho Majra, after paying obeisance at Hanuman Mandir here on Tuesday evening, Captain said that the Akalis, particularly the Badals, had deliberately discriminated against Patiala. “Only once he held a Sangat Darshan here and that too when they cancelled my membership of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha in anticipation of a by-election,” he said while adding, “after my membership was restored by the Supreme Court, he forgot about Patiala.”

Lashing out at the Akalis’ myopic policies, he said that it was not just Patiala but the whole of Punjab, except Lambi and Bathinda, was being ignored. “Even the places where Badal holds his Sangat Darshan eventually end up getting nothing,” he said, adding that these were just his ritualistic and favourite pass time to keep himself busy in his old age.
