Patiala: Senior Youth Congress leader and former state NSUI president Harpal Pardhan has strongly refuted the claim of Congress nominee Preneet Kaur on his being anti-Congress, and said that he had always remained with the Congress party even during its turbulent times.

After burning effigy of former Union Minister Natwar Singh for speaking against the Gandhi family, including AICC president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Harpal Pradhan said that he remained president of the student wing of the Congress party in the state and even represented the Youth Congress.

He said that he had always worked hard to strengthen the party whereas the royal couple had a history of ditching the party for self gains.

He said that he had launched an offensive against the royal couple only to save the Congress party as Capt Amarinder Singh and Preneet Kaur were projecting themselves above the Congress high command.

He said that his battle was to save the honour of the common Congressmen who are the backbone of the party.

He said that, on the other hand, the royal couple, particularly Preneet Kaur had not bothered to work for the benefit of the party and instead she used the party workers’ hard work for her own gain
