Government sets up 14-member Anandpur Sahib Urban Development Authority

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government has constituted a 14-member Sri Anandpur Sahib Urban Development Authority (SASUDA) to ensure planned and holistic development of the city.
A spokesperson said authority would be headed by the chief minister as its chairman with housing and urban development minister as its vice-chairman.
The other members of the committee would include Anandpur Sahib MLA, secretaries of housing and urban development, local government, finance, tourism and cultural affairs, water supply and sanitation and public works, director, town and country planning, chief town planner and deputy commissioner, Rupnagar, besides any other member/invitee to be nominated by the government. The chief administrator of SASUDA would be its member secretary.
The headquarters of the authority would be at Mohali.
The authority would go a long way in providing a workable frame work of this historical place besides ensuring its comprehensive planned and integrated development in a meaningful and result oriented manner. As per the notification issued on February 27, 2019 the boundaries of the authority consist of one town and 23 villages.
The 23 villages are Mahrauli, Chandesar, Lang Majri, Majara, Sadhewal, Banni, Rampur, Jhajar, Bacholi, Lamlehri, Nanowal, Mianpur, Sahota, Thappal, Tarapur, Mohiwal, Dhanera, Lakher, Aggampur, Chak, Lodipur, Mataur, Jhinjri.
