Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh will lay foundation stone of a university at Chamkaur Sahib on March 6, state Minister of Technical Education and Industrial Training Charanjit Singh Channi said here at grain market on Sunday, while taking stock of the arrangements being made at the venue.
Channi also paid a visit to the helipad site and asked the civil and police department officials to keep all security arrangements in place.
On the occasion, Principal Secretary of Technical Education and Industrial Training D K Tiwari, Ropar Deputy Commissioner Sumit Jarangal and SSP Swapan Sharma were also present.
Directing the officers connected with the preparations in this regard, Channi said they should try their best to make the event of stone-laying a huge success. He also paid a visit to the helipad site and asked the civil and police department officials to keep all security arrangements in place.
Channi further informed that the chief minister will also lay foundation stone of ‘Galiara’, the beautification of Chamkaur Sahib at a cost of Rs 14 crore on March 6. This apart, the foundation stone of renovation/repairs of the Guru Gobind Singh Marg at a cost of Rs 4 crore would also be laid on the occasion. He further informed that the work on the railway under bridge at Morinda would start soon.
Others present on the occasion were Director Praveen Kumar Thind, Registrar Sukhvir Singh Walia, Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Amardeep Singh Gujral, SDM Chamkaur Sahib Mankanwal Singh, SDM Ropar Harjot Kaur, besides officials from various departments.
