Congress MP shuts Ladowal Toll Plaza

Ludhiana: In protest against the delay in completition of National Highway from Panipat to Jalandhar crossing from Ludhiana, Congress leaders led by Member Parliament Ravneet Singh Bittu shut down Toll Plaza at Ladowal in Ludhiana.

Accompanied by Congress MLAs, Councilors and party leaders, Bittu reached Toll Plaza and put locks on Toll Booths` Sensing the situation, the toll plaza staff closed the operations of Toll Plaza and made toll free for commuters`

MP Bittu said that he along with Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu, councilor Mamta Ashu held a meeting with officials of Soma Company and asked them to stop toll collection until the company will not complete the three bridges in Ludhiana on National Highway. He added that the company was supposed to complete the project in 2012 but the project was delayed but the company is collecting the toll tax from commuters. He added that they will launch agitation for indefinite period and MLAs, councilors, office bearers will lead the protest every day.

He said that he has obtained all the documents which revealed that the company is demanding 32 crore for the construction of service lane. As the company was not paid 32 crore, they didn’t complete the three over bridges in Ludhiana which led to heavy traffic jams and inconvenience to people.
