Notification to regularise services of 13,728 teachers issued: OP Soni

AMRITSAR : Punjab education minister OP Soni said that the notification to regularise the contractual teachers of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and those recruited under the Pendu Sahyogi Teacher Scheme has been issued on Wednesday.

Services of 7,356 teachers recruited under the SSA, 1,194 under the RMSA and 5,178 teachers recruited under the Pendu Sahyogi Teacher Scheme will be regularised.

The Punjab cabinet on March 6 had given nod to the regularisation of 5,178 contractual teachers with full pay scale from October 2019.

PROBATION PERIOD REDUCED TO 2 YEARS

“As the Punjab Government has taken the decision in the recent cabinet meeting, notification has been issued to regularise the services of SSA, RMSA and 5178 teachers and their probation period has been reduced from 3 years to 2 years”, said OP Soni, while releasing a press statement.

“For Considering demands of protesting teachers, a high-level committee has been constituted, which will submit its report to the state cabinet within 3 months. Also, the services of non-teaching employees, who are working in education department will also be regularised soon,” he added.
