Bathinda, March 29: Firing a fresh salvo at Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal over her alleged bid to mislead the people over AIIMS, Bathinda, Punjab Health Minister Brahm Mohindra today accused the previous SAD-BJP regime of backstabbing the youth of the state while flashing official documents to prove his point.

Addressing a press conference here today, Mohindra presented facts and figures about the AIIMS in chronological order. He said, “The Centre had asked the state government to identify the location for setting up the new AIIMS in June 2014, while its foundation stone was laid in November 2016. The SAD-BJP government sat on the project and it took them two and a half years just to lay the foundation stone of the AIIMS. That, too, was done just ahead of the 2017 Assembly elections. Interestingly, no land was transferred till then. The 180 acres of land was given ex post facto approval by the Cabinet on September 20, 2018, after our government took over.”

Taking on the Union minister, Mohindra said, “She asked us on March 22 as to why we are feigning ignorance about Baba Farid University, Faridkot, being made the transit campus for AIIMS, but the fact of the matter is that the PGI wrote to the Additional Secretary, Health, to start the classes in Baba Farid University on March 25.”
