Chandigarh : A delegation of major political parties of Punjab consisting of Sunil Jakhar, MP and President of the Punjab Congress, Minister in Punjab government, Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa, leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema, Nazar Singh and H.S. Phoolka on Tuesday met the Election Commission in New Delhi on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum seeking cancellation of the order to transfer IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap Sigh from Special Investigation Team (SIT) looking into the incidents of sacrilege and police firings at Behbal Kalan and Bargari. The delegation said that Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh was a key member of the SIT. Akalis had been trying its best to delay the investigation they had not succeeded in their nefarious designs far. A very valuable piece of evidence was destroyed and tempered with during the Akali regime. With great difficulty, the SIT was collecting the lost evidence. Now by filing a false complaint and misleading the commission, the SAD has obtained this order oftransfer which will not only delay the investigation but also adversely affect the line investigation. After this transfer, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal has started boasting of a victory in the Lo Sabha poll.
