‘Central govt discriminated against Punjab’

Patiala : Former minister of State for External Affairs and Congress party’s candidate from Patiala Lok Sabha seat Preneet Kaur on Friday lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi claiming that the Union Government has discriminated against Punjab by not providing sufficient financial aid during its regime.
She gave these remarks while addressing poll-related meetings in Ghanour constituency area. These meetings were held in Sehra and Jansua villages.
The gathering was organised by Ghanour MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur and Tejinder Singh Sandhu, who have joined the Congress recently. The meeting held in Sehra village was supported by panchayats of 18 villages.
Speaking against the Modi government, Preneet Kaur added that the PM failed to fulfill the demands raised by the bordering state of Punjab and did not give any special financial package while many states have received special financial packages. She added that the state only got special packages when the Congress was at the Centre. Meanwhile, a large number of BSP, SAD and AAP leaders joined the Congress, including district incharge of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Ram Singh Dhiman, Devinder Singh Ghuman, who contested assembly election last time from Samana as BSP’s candidate, women wing leader Karnail Kaur, Shiromani Akali Dal’s Kuldeep Singh Ghuman, Darshan Singh, Satguru Singh, Naseeb Singh Sehra, Balwinder Singh Mantoo, Faquir Mohammad, Surjan Singh Khatra, Damanjit Singh Goldy Takhat Majra and Satwinder Singh and from Aam Aadami Party Harjit Singh, president of Kissan wing, and Krishna announced their support for Preneet Kaur and asked their supporters to campaign for her and the Congress. Preneet Kaur welcomed all these leaders and their supporters and assured that they will get full honour in the party.
Meanwhile, lashing out at the SAD-BJP for ruining the youth of Punjab with free flow of drugs, she said that the Congress government has done a lot to rid the state of drug menace.
