HISAR : Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a debate on any issue and said he would quit politics if he lost the verbal duel.

Sidhu, who is a minister in Punjab, was canvassing for Congress candidate for Hisar Lok Sabha seat Bhavya Bishnoi at Multani Park here.

“Kuldeep Bishnoi is my brother. I request everyone to vote for his son Bhavya, who is educated and has a vision for everyone. If Bhavya wins, I will come here again and do ‘bhangra’,” he added.

In his 45 minute speech, Sidhu lashed out at the BJP-led Union government. “I came to know that people are sitting here from 11am just to listen to me. I talk against the BJP so that the future generations do not say that I was a mute spectator when the country was in trouble,” Sidhu said.

He said the BJP had failed to fulfill the promises it had made during the 2014 elections. The BJP had promised to end corruption, bring back black money and create two crore government jobs every year. But the Narendra Modi government has failed to deliver on all the promises,” he said. Adampur MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi, former minister Savitri Jindal and Hansi MLA Renuka Bishnoi, who is mother of Bhavya Bishnoi, also addressed the rally.
