PATIALA : Former Union minister and Patiala MP Preneet Kaur on Sunday spoke to Indian Air Force chief Air Marshal BS Dhanoa regarding the rescue measures being taken to trace the IAF plane that went missing in Arunachal Pradesh on June 3.

Kaur also inquired about flight lieutenant Mohit Garg, who hails from Samana (Patiala), and was on board the missing plane. The Patiala MP said the Air Marshal had assured her that all possible rescue measures were being taken but the IAF had not met with success so far.

The 27-year-old flight lieutenant is among 13 people who went missing after the AN-32 military transport plane went off radar on its way to Arunachal Pradesh’s West Siang district.

An alumnus of Nabha’s Punjab Public School, Mohit was initially trained at National Defence Academy (NDA) Khadakwasla, Pune, before being commissioned as flying officer in the IAF.

The Soviet-made Antonov-32 plane carrying 13 people, including an eight-man crew, took off from Jorhat in Assam at 12.27pm. It was on its way to an advanced landing ground at Mechuka in West Siang district, about 15 km from the Line of Actual Control, the disputed border with China. It last contacted ground control at 1 pm on June 3.
