Chandigarh : The Punjab Government is striving to celebrate 550th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji with great fervor and also coupled with the motive to transform Punjab into a healthy and robust State. It is in keeping with this motive in mind that the Sports Department is going to organize sporting events regarding which a detailed calendar was unveiled here today.

Rana Sodhi divulged that as per the directions of the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, a detailed roadmap was chalked out with regard to the Sports Fixtures as per which sports competitions at every level ranging from District to State level would be held besides a cycle rally and a Kabaddi Cup of International stature. He also said that the sports events would commence from 20th July when all the Districts would see U-14 Boys and Girls competitions being held which would continue till 30th July. He also added that these sports events would come to culmination with a cycle rally from Sultanpur Lodhi to Dera Baba Nanak on the 17th of October apart from a Circle Style Kabaddi Cup later on.

The Sports Minister also divulged that from 1st to 20th August U-18 sports events at District level, from 11th-20th August U-25 events in all the Districts, From 21st-23rd August U-14 Punjab State Games for Boys at Ludhiana, From 2nd-4th September U-14 Punjab State Games for Girls at Rupnagar, From 11th-13th September U-18 Punjab State Games for Boys at Ferozepore, From 12th-16th October U-14, 17 and 25 State level Kabaddi Championship for Boys at Fatehgarh Sahib, From 19th-23rd October U-14,17 and 25 State level Kabaddi Championship for Girls at Tarntaran, From 6th-8th November U-18 Punjab State Games for Girls at Sri Muktsar Sahib, From 21st-23rd November U-25 Punjab State Games for Boys at Patiala, and from 28th-30th November U-25 Punjab State Games for Girls at Mansa would be held.

Rana Sodhi also disclosed that Volleyball Federation Gold Cup dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre would be organized from 27th September to 3rd October at Amritsar.
