AMRITSAR: Amritsar member of parliament Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday expressed grief over the loss of lives in Amritsar and other parts of the state during the last few days.

Expressing his condolences to the bereaved families of Amritsar’s Jassonangal and of Dhalla village in Batala, Amarinder said he shared their grief in this hour of great tragedy.

He said it was sad and tragic that so many people lost their lives due to house collapse caused by incessant rain.

The former chief minister, who is abroad, has asked the local leaders of the party to reach out to the affected people, including those who had lost a family member, for any assistance they will need.

He hoped that the state government would provide adequate compensation to the bereaved families, besides helping them in reconstruction of their houses.

Amarinder regretted huge damages caused to the crops by the heavy rain across the state.

He said the government must conduct special ‘girdawri’ for assessing the damage to the crops and provide adequate compensation to the farmers for the same.

BAJWA CONDOLES DEATH

GURDASPUR: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Partap Singh Bajwa on Saturday condole the death of eight persons in Dalla village near Qadian as roof of a house collapsed.

He called upon the state government to announce adequate compensation in this case as it was a big human tragedy. He expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.
