Chhapaar (Ludhiana) : The main Opposition party Congress on Tuesday made their presence felt by holding a huge rally at Chhapaar Mela. Addressing the gathering, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief Partap Singh Bajwa held Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal responsible for the poor financial state of Punjab. He said ‘Badal as the Chief Minister is just a custodian, not the owner of Punjab.’

Taking a dig at the state government, Bajwa said Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s letter denying state financial package is a mirror for Badals.

Hitting out at the Chief Minister over funds spend on Sangat Darshan programme, he said there is no status of where the funds, announced during Sangat Darshan, are spent, adding that now, even Jaitley has demanded the receipts of those funds and its inclusion in consolidated funds as nobody knows where crores of rupees, announced by the Chief Minister during Sangat Darshan, are spent.

Congress leader Sunil Jakhar appreciated BJP for showing mirror to Badals, and said for how long will the Central government fill coffers of a bankrupt government, adding that the BJP, especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completely cornered Badals.

“The UPA government gave Rs 3,000 crore for drainage and waterlogging problems in state, they were never utilised properly. Jaitley did the right thing by denying package to Badals as be it Congress or the BJP government at the Centre, no one can fill deficit of Rs 10,000 crore in the budget of Punjab,” he maintained.

Commenting on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bajwa said AAP has no future and the people of Punjab has also realised the same.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Krishan Kumar Bawa called upon party leaders to come to focus on 2017 Vidhan Sabha elections.
