Amritsar : Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha and Amritsar MP Capt Amarinder Singh said that the mutual political egos for oneupmanship between Shiromani Akali Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party in Punjab have resulted in undue delay in sorting out the issue of the ‘No Objection Certificates’ (NOC) for the plot and property holders in unregularised colonies across Punjab.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, Capt Amarinder said, “People are suffering and this has also had an adverse impact on the business sentiment. The smaller property transactions have come to a halt resulting in a loss to small traders, besides harassment to those who wanted to buy or sell the plots or houses for their personal use.”
Senior Congress leader said, “Such situations emerge when the ruling partners do not trust each other. The level of mistrust has led to such a stage that the Akali leadership is wary of taking any decision which might end up benefitting the BJP.”
The former chief minister said in this process the common man was suffering. “With most of the economic activity in the state having come to a standstill, the real estate business, though at a limited level only, was helping in some economic activity,” he pointed out, while adding, “but unfortunately even that has also been stopped by the Akalis with a vicious motive to damage its alliance partner not giving a thought to the interests of the common man who has been made to suffer extensively.”
FOrmer Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh told the alliance leaders that their disputes and personal egos can wait and they must instead think of providing relief to the common people. “Better you clear the air on the NOC matter at the earliest and issue the necessary guidelines lest people will have to come out on streets and fight for their rights,” he warned.
