Chandigarh : Former Congress MLA and PPCC spokesman Sukhpal Singh Khaira has urged the Punjab Government to stop “harassing” TET qualified teachers and hand over appointment letters to the selected candidates.
He alleged it was a matter of shame that thousands of aspirants were running from pillar to post despite qualifying the TET test. “The government had released an ad hoc merit list on June 9 on its website. But the selected candidates are yet to get appointment letters,” he said.
The teachers were thus left with no option but to sit on dharnas, block traffic and perch atop water tanks to lodge their protest, he said.
"If the government was sincere, it could have given employment to 4,901 aspirants by adjusting them against 13,034 vacancies occured on account of transfer of teachers from zila parishads to the Education Department. But the Badals forced the unemployed teachers to come out on streets,” alleged Khaira.
