Preneet calls upon youth to keep off drugs

Patiala : Former union minister of state for external affairs Preneet Kaur on Sunday gave a clarion call to students and youth in particular to keep away from drugs and also motivate their parents to keep the environment clean.

She awarded certificates to the students who successfully completed the sewing training at the two sewing training centres being run by the Human Rights Care Organisation under the stewardship of Dr Narbahadur Verma.

She along with noted philanthropist S P S Oberoi also distributed free woollen jerseys and socks among over 100 poor and deserving students from different schools.

Preneet lauded the initiative of Human Rights Care Organisation in providing help and succour to the needy in the society.

Speaking at the function, Preneet, who is the sitting Congress legislator from Patiala Urban constituency, said that it was a commendable effort that Verma was making through the organisation which was providing much needed help to the deserving people.

The former minister handed over certificates and medals to outstanding students from a number of local schools which were identified by the Human Rights Care Organisation in collaboration with school headmasters. She called upon the philanthropists to take a cue from Verma and come forward in a big way to provide help to the needy.

Addressing the gathering, Verma recalled social welfare projects undertaken by the organisation.

A large number of prominent personalities of the town representing a cross section of the society were present. She also felicitated a number of prominent citizens on the occasion.
