LUDHIANA: Congress has joined the chorus of industry against the water and sewerage sharing charges.

Several trade organisations have been criticising the sharing charges for the past many days.

Besides, industrial organisations have also met senior officials of the state government, seeking rollback of the charges.

Former district Congress president KK Bawa on Tuesday said the SAD-BJP led state government had failed on every front and was now levying every possible tax on the people to fill their coffers.

He said SAD-BJP government should be termed as “tax government” that was unable to bring Punjab back on track, financially.

“Farmers, traders and even youth are dissatisfied by the policies of the state government and are not able to cope with the ever-increasing inflation being put on their shoulders,” Bawa said.

On the other hand, Federation of Industrial and Commercial Org anisation (FICO) has launched a campaign against sharing charges and planned a series of meetings with top functionaries of the state government.

Sharing charges were imposed through a notification on October 10 in areas under Ludhiana Improvement Trust ( LIT), Housing Board colonies, industrial areas, Focal Points, registered cooperative societies, hospitals and nursing homes, schools, colleges.
