CHANDIGARH: Claiming that the bitter discord between alliance partners SAD and BJP is proving punitive for farmers of Punjab, former deputy speaker of Punjab assembly Bir Devinder on Thursday said it is preposterous that the Centre is cynically withholding the release of second instalment of the cash credit limit (CCL) worth ` 10,000 crore for clearing dues of paddy farmers.

“The infighting between the SAD and BJP has reached a crescendo and CM Parkash Singh Badal owes an explanation and public apology to the people of Punjab for misleading them and fraudulently projecting the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Contrary to this, the UPA regime at the Centre had never shown such callousness against Punjab farmers in the past 10 years. Then PM Manmohan Singh had been graciously accommodating Punjab, despite Badal accusing him of bias,” he said.
