Chandigarh : Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa today took exception to the non-utilisation of funds earmarked for the welfare of Dalits, saying this revealed the “anti-Dalit” face of the Badal government.

“The report submitted by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on the utilisation of funds by the state government meant for Dalits has exposed the Badal government so far as the implementation of the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan is concerned. It is shocking that the Badal government has failed to utilise 33 per cent of the Plan component,” he said in a statement.

He alleged that funds meant for the Dalits had been diverted for other schemes. He demanded a high-level inquiry into the matter. He also slammed the Badal government for the proposed increase in VAT on diesel to 12.5 per cent. This would push up the diesel rate by Rs 2.25 per litre, he said.
