AMRITSAR: Hitting back at Akali leader Virsa Singh Valtoha over demanding her resignation, chief parliamentary secretary (CPS) Navjot Kaur Sidhu on Friday sought the resignation of deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal for “not keeping his promises” made to the people of Amritsar (east) constituency.

Though the BJP MLA also demanded chief minister Parkash Singh Badal’s resignation, her main target was Sukhbir.

Talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of a function, Dr Sidhu said: “I am a member of the BJP, and I will definitely resign when my party asks for it. Valtoha need not worry about it.”

I would ask Valtoha, said Sidhu, not to divert from the real issues by getting into such debates. The deputy CM had promised ` 100 crore for the development of my constituency, she said, but nothing had been done. “My files are pending with various ministers,” she alleged.

Accusing the Badals of ignoring her constituency, Sidhu sought to know as to why the works in her constituency were not done. “The government should either release the money or come out in the open and say that they will not allow any development to take place in my constituency,” said Sidhu.

In a letter to the CM, the CPS said, “I will be the first to bow before you, if we can remove the miseries of the people residing in my constituency.”
