CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Congress has urged chief minister Parkash Singh Badal to immediately sack chief parliamentary secretary (CPS) Avinash Chander in view of the confessional statement made by his close aide Cheetinder Singh alias Ceeta before the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Ceeta has accused the CPS of multi-crore drug-racketing as well as illegal sand mining operations.
Former Congress MLA and party spokesman Sukhpal Singh Khaira said that as per reports, Ceeta confessed before the ED that Avinash and his team of 50 operators dealt in drug supply and illegal sand mining. Khaira said Ceeta had alleged that Avinash and his group collected ` 60 crore from illegal mining from the banks of the Sutlej towards Phillaur township, during the last two and half years. Ceeta confessed that his commission agent cum money changer shop in Phillaur was the meeting point from where Avinash collected money from his operatives, Khaira said, claiming that Ceeta also admitted that Avinash and his operatives divided proceeds in the ratio 40:60.
