Bittu takes delegation to FM to discuss problems of industry

LUDHIANA: Member of Parliament from Ludhiana Ravneet Singh Bittu, along with an industrial delegation, met union finance minister Arun Jaitelty and discussed different issues related to the industry at Parliament in New Delhi on Friday.
They discussed the problems risking the infrastructural growth of the city. The prominent issues that were raised by the delegation, included licence against export performance transferable and introduction of interest subvention scheme of 2% interest in the upcoming budget.
Ravneet Bittu strongly pleaded the issues as these measures will help existing industrialists’ survive difficult business climate. “As the budget process is in motion, a timely input can help industrialists’ streamline processes and procedures which dent their profitability,” Bittu said.
Congress member of legislative assembly (MLA) Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) economic and political planning cell chairman Ishwarjot Cheema also raised issues concerning Ludhiana. These included demand of funds for the municipal corporation that is reeling under fund crunch.
Cheema said the issue of covering of Buddha Nullah and its treatment was also discussed prominently.
“It was requested that the growth of Ludhiana will not be possible without infrastructural development and that chronic shortage of funds must be addressed decisively,” Cheema said.
Industry leaders present in the delegation included, Harish Dua, Kulwant Singh, KK Garg, Vinod Bharti, Bhushan Abhi.
Jaitely asked the delegation to provide the list of other pending projects and told them that he would try to address issues of urban development in the upcoming budget.
