PATHANKOT: Taking his party’s membership campaign from Pathankot town to Sujanppur on Wednesday, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Partap Singh Bajwa called upon Congress activists to expand its mass base in Punjab.

Addressing a rally organised by senior Congress leader Vinay Mahajan at Sujanppur, Bajwa reminded the party workers of their duties, while asking them to be ready for the upcoming civic polls in January.

“If we expand our mass base by increasing membership, it will pay dividends to the party, which is continuing its fight against the excesses of the SADBJP government in the state,” he said.

“They are businessmen and have captured all businesses of the state, and the result is before us. It’s difficult to build a house with the prices of building material shooting through the roof. From cable to liquor, the Badals are in process to establish their monopoly,” he alleged.

“Our motto is to maximise membership so that we can forcefully oppose the excesses of the Badals. If a force of Congress workers is formed in every village, it will not allow booth capturing and other misdeeds during elections,” he added.

Meanwhile, he also called upon former Congress workers and leaders to join the drive for strengthening the party.
