Ludhiana : The issue of death of 16-year-old Ludhiana rape victim, who was allegedly set afire by the accused, was raised in Lok Sabha by Ludhiana Member of Parliament Ravneet Singh Bittu on Wednesday.

Bittu said that the legal and the administrative system had totally failed to protect the victim.

Criticising the SAD-BJP government in the state for failing to instill a sense of fear among the criminals, Bittu asked how come the perpetrators of the crime repeatedly threatened the victim and the family to take back the case and how come the police failed to take measures to provide security to the victim all these days and the criminals upon getting bail, went to the victim’s house and set her ablaze in front of her mother after tying her up.

Bittu said that the law and order situation in the state had worsened and the BJP being the partner in the state government was equally responsible for the situation.

“BJP should come out of the state government if it feels otherwise,” he said.

“The incident has refreshed the memory of the Delhi rape case of December 2012,” said Bittu while speaking in Lok Sabha.
