Chandigarh : Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh today said PM Narendra Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat” on drugs should have been more “action-oriented”.

“The Prime Minister must tell the nation what he plans to do and not just what should be done”, he said, reacting to the Prime Minister’s address to the nation.

“It is good that the issue has attracted the attention of the Prime Minister and I hope that his ‘Mann ki Baat’ will be taken to its logical end,” he remarked.

The former Chief Minister pointed out that in Madhya Pradesh, opium was allowed to be grown while in Rajasthan it was allowed to be sold. The policies of these two states had had serious repercussions on neighbouring states.

Amarinder Singh said there were multiple drug suppliers. While some came from Pakistan and Afghanistan, others came from states such as Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. “Narco-terrorism is only one aspect of the problem that the Prime Minister touched in his address,” Amarinder Singh said.
