Jammu : The vehicle of BJP leader Navjot Singh Sidhu was attacked by some Sikh youths at the Bhor Camp in Chatha today.

Sidhu was on his way back from a rally organised by his party to campaign for Gandhi Nagar nominee Kavinder Gupta when he was attacked.

The Sikh youths, carrying black flags, stopped his vehicle on the outskirts of Jammu. Some of them threw stones, damaging the vehicle. The police took Sidhu to safety. Four policemen, including a DSP, were  injured. The SP  (South), Rahul Malik, said: “Four persons have been detained and further investigation is on.”  Sidhu later addressed another rally in Jammu. The BJP spokesperson, Suresh Magotra, termed the incident as unfortunate.

Amritsar:  Reacting to yet another attack on her husband’s convoy during campaigning in Jammu, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu said it merely showed how frustrated the SAD was.

“Thousands of people are attending my husband’s rallies in Jammu and that is why the SAD is behaving in this fashion. It shows their real character,” Dr Sidhu said. She said she did not  expect anything better from the SAD, “but it is good that the people of Punjab are getting to see their real face.”

The CPS alleged that the SAD had been telling deras and other organisations to burn Sidhu’s effigies for allegedly distorting Gurbani. She said the SAD was harming the BJP by resorting to such activities.
