Jalandhar : The BJP national secretary and the all-India co-convener of the party’s membership drive, Dr Sudha Yadav, today said Revenue Minister Bikramjit Majithia must quit on moral grounds. The minister is to appear before the Enforcement Directorate tomorrow for questioning in the Bhola drug case.

Yadav was here to participate in the “Nasha-Mukt Punjab Sankalp Divas” organised on the birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. She said: “Majithia must resign. He can come back after he is given a clean chit. However, she failed to explain why the BJP had opposed the no-confidence motion in the Punjab Assembly on the issue of drugs.

“Our president Amit Shah plans to tour Punjab next month. He will launch an anti-drug campaign from Amritsar next month. We are in the process of formulating a policy on the matter. The party will also campaign against those involved in the drug trade.” Yadav said the BJP was focusing on good governance. “Steps initiated by the Centre will slowly begin to percolate down to the states,” she said.

Former minister Laxmi Kanta Chawla expressed shock over Akali MLA Valtoha’s remark. “There is no place for terrorists in the government,” she remarked.
