Badal can’t think beyond family: AAP convener

FATEHGARH SAHIB: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur on Saturday said chief minister Parkash Singh Badal could not think beyond his family, as despite there being senior party leaders, he had ensured that his daughter-in-law became a minister at the Centre.

Chhotepur was speaking at the AAP conference at the Shaheedi Jor Mela here. With all major parties holding their conferences here, AAP conducted its maiden conference at the Mela.

Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi, Fatehg arh Sahib MP Harjinder Singh Khalsa, Faridkot MP Sadhu Singh and senior party leader HS Phoolka highlighted the achievements of AAP. Speaking on the drugs issue, Khalsa accused Badal and Capt Amarinder Singh of the Congress of favouring drug lord Jagdish Bhola by refusing to hand over the case to the CBI and by giving Majithia the clean chit.

He said, “The Congress gave birth to drugs in Punjab during its rule. In case Prime Minister Modi wanted to clean the nation and make Punjab better, he should break the alliance with the SAD.”

Chhote pur alle g ed that Punjab was being ruled not by a political party but by Badal and company, who were destroying it with drugs. He alleged, “The Congress is responsible for the 1984 riots. Industry is migrating from Punjab due to it ruling party, since in every unit small or big, the Badals want their share.” Phoolka slammed the decision of the NDA government to make a committee to look into the need to form an SIT) in the 1984 riots, saying: “Kejriwal had already taken the decision.”

MANN SLAMS BADAL GOVT

SAD (A) president Simranjit Singh Mann on Saturday said the Badal government was not serious on freeing the long-detained Sikhs. At the SAD (A) rally during at the mela, he said, “It did not let Gurbaksh Singh continue his struggle.”
