Patiala: Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal censured Parkash Singh Badal-led government for auctioning property and liabilities worth Rs 226 crore of the Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC).

Addressing media persons here on Sunday after visiting the residence of former Punjab minister Lal Singh, she said it was shameful on the part of Badal government to auction the properties of PRTC is clearly indicative of bankruptcy of present regime in Punjab. She said that Badal government’s fiscal bankruptcy has resulted in non-payment of pension arrears to retired 3300 employees of Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC).

Hitting out at Badal government, she alleged that Badal government’s preferential treatment to private transporters has resulted in PRTC becoming a sinking ship. She said that the situation has come at such a pass that PRTC has gone into shambles.

She said in the recent years the transport companies having stakes of Badal family have flourished at the cost of PRTC being neglected by present regime in Punjab. She said that the transport companies especially those in which Badal family holds stakes have grown massively due to certain benefits doled out to private transporters by SAD-BJP combine government. She said that economy of Punjab has completely collapsed under the present regime emphasizing that even Modi government has reportedly reprimanded Badal government to settle outstandings of Rs 42,000 crore of the previous cash credit limits (CCLs) received during different seasons of foodgrains for procurement by March 31 or in case of default Punjab will not receive any amount under CCL. She said it seems highly improbable that Badal government in Punjab would be able to settle outstandings of Rs 42,000 crore of previous cash credit limits (CCLs adding that Badal government is clueless to tackle financial condition of the state.
