Muktsar : Partap Singh Bajwa, PPCC chief, today accepted Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia’s challenge to undergo a dope test, saying Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal too must undergo one. Majithia had yesterday dared Bajwa to undergo a dope test while addressing an awareness rally near Attari.

Bajwa said “Akali leaders claim that they are devout Sikhs. I ask them to appear before Akal Takht and furnish proof that they have no role in the drug trade.” Bajwa was here to discuss arrangements with party leaders for the Maghi Mela political conference.

He claimed that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had prepared a list of six more Akali leaders for their links with drug peddlers. He did not name anyone. Bajwa alleged that most of those who had attended SAD rallies yesterday were found to be carrying liquor, tobacco and poppy husk. He appealed to Congress workers to get ready for Assembly elections. “The ties between the SAD and the BJP are turning bitter by the day. After BJP chief Amit Shah’s visit to Amritsar this month, the allies are likely to turn hostile,” he said.

On the resignation of Jagmeet Singh Brar, he claimed senior party leader Ambika Soni had called him for a meeting but he did not turn up.

Leaders from nearby districts, who had gathered here, praised the newly appointed Indian Youth Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring for leading a protest outside the BJP office immediately after assuming charge.
