Ferozepur : Congress MLA Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi today ridiculed the SAD-BJP regime for failing to keep most of the promises it had made to the people of the state before the 2012 assembly elections.

“Now in order to cover up their failure, the Akalis are trying to deflect the attention of the people from real issues such as poor governance and corruption by organising dharnas. However, people have understood their game plan,” he said.

“The Akalis had promised to create over one lakh job avenues for the youth, increasing pension for widows and the elderly and raising money under the shagun scheme. He said SAD had also promised to distribute laptops and check graft, but they have failed on all fronts,” said Sodhi.

He said SAD instead of improving governance were targeting paramilitary forces, who guarded the border under hostile conditions. Sodhi said the Akalis were also blaming the BJP-ruled state of Rajasthan for not stopping the cultivation of narcotic crops. “The cultivation of narcotic crops has been prevalent in MP and Rajasthan for decades, but the manufacturing of synthetic drugs in Punjab started under the SAD-BJP regime in 2007,” he said.
