MUKTSAR: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Partap Singh Bajwa has said that his party is ready to accept the challenge of Shiromani Akali Dal for dope tests of politicians, but deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal should also first undergo the test in the same laboratory.

“We have no problem with any dope test, but Sukhbir should also undergo that. I expect revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia to first bring Sukhbir Badal to the laboratory where he expects other leaders to line up for dope test,” said Bajwa, who was here to inspect the preparations for the Maghi mela rally of the party.

Sharpening his attack on the drug issue, Bajwa alleged, “Everyone knows that the Majithia family runs a distillery in Uttar Pradesh. Most of the liquor being consumed in Punjab has been coming from that distillery.”

“I challenge Majithia to take oath at the Akal Takht to prove that he has no connection with the distillery. Not only Majithia but the Enforcement Directorate is also going to summon six other SAD ministers in the drug case,” claimed Bajwa.

He said, “If the Congress comes to power, we will make public the names of those who are involved in drug smuggling. The SAD-BJP government is continuously avoiding to make these names public.” He also accused the Muktsar district administration of forcing the landowners not to give land for the Congress party’s Maghi mela rally near the gurdwara.

“The administration used all tactics to shift the venue of the rally of our party away from the gurdwara. But, these moves will not hurt us. We will register a record gathering in the rally. People want the Congress government back in the state. at any cost,” said Bajwa.
