Tarn Taran : Amid simmering tension between ruling alliance partners SAD and BJP, Punjab Local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi today hinted at parting ways with the Akali Dal while lashing out at the latter for its “wrong policies”.

Addressing a meeting of the party workers here, Joshi exhorted them to gear up for the forthcoming municipal council elections in the state.

In his 45-minute speech, he didn’t target the Opposition Congress. Rather, he chose to attack the SAD saying the drug trade could not be run without political patronage.

On the SAD launching a movement against drugs, he said it came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi aired his concern over the issue in radio show “Man ki Baat”. He said the time had come for the BJP to take a call on right and wrong.

Talking about Tarn Taran, he said there was no doubt that land grabbing was rampant in the town. He didn’t name anybody but said everybody knew who was doing it. Local BJP leaders had been vocal against the SAD and had been targeting it openly for allegedly patronising land grabbing and drug trade.
