New Delhi : Congress Member of Parliament Ravneet Singh Bittu, grandson of assassinated Chief Minister Beant Singh, today appealed to the Akal Takht Jathedar to ex-communicate terrorists.

He appealed to him to  give a new direction to the Sikh Panth by “banishing the killers of innocent persons.” He said the Jathedar should restrain the Akali Dal from using religion for political gains.

“I will sit on an indefinite fast if any terrorist is released, except by due process of law,” he warned.

Hoshiarpur: Dal Khalsa on Thursday asked Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and  Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, who holds the Home portfolio, to explain why they had “authorised” the state police chief to speak on their behalf on the issue of Sikh detainees.

“Is Punjab a police state or do they lack the confidence to speak on the issue,” asked party chief HS Dhami and spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh. They said since the issue was political, it was the responsibility of the political leadership to address it.
