Muktsar : Posing yet another challenge to the leadership of Partap Singh Bajwa, Muktsar city is now dotted with numerous hoardings appealing all to replace Bajwa with his bête noir Captain Amarinder Singh.
The hoardings read: “Captain Lyao, Punjab Bachao” (Bring Captain, Save Punjab) that means the appellant wants all to put efforts to ensure the command is given back in the hands of Amarinder Singh.
Interestingly, the life-size hoardings are even put up around the venue of Congress rally, which is to be held on Wednesday on the occasion of Maghi.
The rally is otherwise organised under the leadership of Partap Singh Bajwa.
As the undercurrent against Bajwa is so high in the party that no leader has even asked Pushpinder Singh Bhandari, the person who expressed his feelings through this medium, to remove such hoardings.
However, it’s certain to irk Bajwa as he is already a victim of Amarinder’s repeated verbal attacks.
At the latest, three days ago Amarinder asked Sonia Gandhi to replace Bajwa with some ‘competent’ leader in Punjab, which was further followed by his yet another googly of hosting lunch at his palace in Patiala, which was attended by over three dozen party MLAs as well as the CLP leader Sunil Jakhar and various MPs.
Interestingly, none among the Bajwa’s loyalists was invited on the luncheon meeting and those who attended all rallied behind Amarinder and desired to see him as their leader once again.
Bhandari, as he claims, was the vice-president of the District Congress Committee of Muktsar, when the committee was headed by Gurdas Girdhar.
He was, however, not accommodated in the next committee constituted by Partap Singh Bajwa.
‘Lalkaar rally should be held under PPCC umbrella’
Ludhiana: A day after Deputy leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Captain Amarinder Singh announced that Lalkaar rally would be held at Amritsar on January 22, Member of Parliament from Ludhiana Ravneet Singh Bittu said that the rally should be organised under the umbrella of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC).
Bittu said that the matter is serious and the party high command should intervene to resolve the differences between Captain Amarinder Singh and state party unit chief Partap Singh Bajwa.
“Although the rally was announced by Captain Amarinder Singh but it should be under the umbrella of PPCC and high command can appoint Captain Amarinder as star campaigner for the rally,” suggested Bittu to party high command.
On Sunday, Captain Amarinder Singh in a show of strength hosted a lunch at Moti Bagh Palace and announced to organise ‘Lalkaar rally’ at Amritsar on January 22 to confront the rally of BJP national president Amit Shah.
Later, PPCC chief Partap Singh Bajwa stated that the rally will be held under the umbrella of PPCC but Captain Amarinder snubbed Bajwa for his statement.
