AAP shows unity, discusses drugs issue

Muktsar : Like other political parties, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also exploited the drugs issue as the main theme of its debut on the Maghi Mela.

As it was a maiden attempt of the AAP to hold political conference on the occasion it succeeded in mobilising handsome gathering. Addressing masses, the AAP leaders gave a slogan of ‘Nasha Mukt, Badal Mukt Punjab’. Noticeably, all four MPs of the AAP attended the event with the state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur addressing the rally. Noted comedian-turned-Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann was the key speaker and his wit against the SAD-BJP leaders stole the show.

He also cited various examples to prove his point. Mann blamed the wrong policies of state and centre stating that it all forced people to face miseries of life.

The AAP leaders further slammed the state government over the self immolation bid by an unemployed lineman outside the SAD’s rally.

They also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his claim to bring back black money, but failing in doing so.

Other three MPs Sadhu Singh, Dharamvir Gandhi and Harinder Singh Khalsa also addressed the public. Among others, H S Phoolka, Jassi Jasraj and Kultar Singh were the prominent faces on the occasion.

Washington : The Indian-American community in the US has urged the Trump administration to “fully support” India’s decision to revoke the constitutional provision that accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir and to continue to exert pressure on Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism.
