BATHINDA: Having quit the Congress by ending his 35 years of association with the party, former MP Jagmeet Singh Brar now seems to be in the wait-andwatch mode before taking the final decision of jumping onto the BJP bandwagon.

Talking to the media on the sidelines of his supporters’ gathering at his house in Muktsar on the occasion of Maghi on Wednesday, Brar said his supporters were pressing him to join the BJP saying that the national party was the only good option for him, but he was “yet to take the final decision”.

Before taking the decision, he said, he would discuss it with “intellectuals and political analysts” and also have a “detailed discussion” with his supporters.

“There arises no question of joining the SAD, so it is clear that I will have to join a political party as I have decided not to float any new party,” he said. Brar was expected to join the saffron party, which has been aggressive in Punjab and keen on roping in Sikh faces, at its now-cancelled anti-drugs rally in Amritsar on January 22. The veteran now seems to be waiting for the results of Delhi assembly elections early February.

Continuing with his praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he acknowledged that he was in touch of the BJP leadership.

At the same time, he had words of admiration for the People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as well: “PPP chief Manpreet Singh Badal is a good human being, and the policies of AAP are also pro-people.”

He reiterated that he had started preparations already for “a third political force in Punjab, and would work to end the “dynastic rule” of chief minister Parkash Singh Badal-led SAD and the “royalist and feudalistic” Congress in the assembly elections due in 2017.
