Chandigarh : The revolt in Punjab Congress seems to be an unending affair with rival factions within the main Opposition party one after another approaching the high command with their respective issues.

It all started with Congress Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Captain Amarinder Singh calling upon the party president Sonia Gandhi, which was followed by his bête-noir Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa, who met party vice-president Rahul Gandhi. Not to be left behind, another party stalwart, former Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal met Sonia in New Delhi on Friday evening and pressed for early resolution of the intra-party feud in the state unit. All this happened within almost a week.

Sources said Bhattal reportedly told the Congress president to send a fact-finding mission of party observers to resolve the internal rumblings soon and bring an end to the factionalism that may cost the party dear in the upcoming elections.

She is also learnt to have asked party Central leaders to engage with warring Punjab Congress leaders and end the crisis.

She has reportedly sought to resolve the leadership row by inducting a fresh face to steer the party forward and take all its leaders along.

Bhattal is further learnt to have sought adoption of a middle path and asked the party high command to talk to both warring factions of Captain Amarinder and Bajwa, who are at loggerheads with each other.
