Congress resumes strike against SDM after a month

FATEHGARH SAHIB: The issue of a verbal spat between Congress MLA Kuljeet Singh Nagra and sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Pooja Syal Grewal refuses to end as Congress workers resumed their hunger strike after one month on Monday outside the administrative complex here seeking transfer of the official.

In September 2014, Congress MLA Nagra had an argument with the SDM at a meeting to discuss the anti-encroachment drive and then the for mer accused the SDM of using abusive language against him in front of the public.

Then the Congress workers had launched an hunger strike against the SDM. But they lifted their strike on December 19.

Nagra said, “We had lifter our protest due to Shaheedi Jor Mela and the death of Baba Ajit Singh. Now we have resumed our agitation and will continue it tell the SDM is transferred. If the DC, SSP and ADC can be transferred, then why not a, SDM?”

Despite various attempts, Pooja Syal Grewal could not be contacted for comments. Deputy commissioner KS Sangha said, “It is useless to protest outside the administrative complex, as I can neither dismiss any one, nor recruit anyone. It is for the government to look into their demand.”
