Ludhiana : Former Union Minister Manish Tewari today said the Saturday’s Congress rally at Amritsar, in which over “one lakh people participated, was indicative of the people’s mood for change” in Punjab.
Tewari had a conversation with the media after inaugurating a tubewell at Daba Colony here. He observed that the number of people from across the state present at the rally proved beyond any doubt that there was an “overwhelming mood for change”. He claimed the people had “high expectations both from the Congress and Amarinder Singh”.
The former minister said the people had pinned hopes on the Congress as the Akali-BJP government had "completely failed" them.
He observed that when the people compared the eight years of the Akali-BJP regime with the previous five years of Capt Amarinder’s tenure, they wanted the latter’s rule back at the earliest.
“There is hardly any doubt left about the Congress returning to power in Punjab. Yesterday’s rally will prove the beginning of the end for the Akali-BJP regime,” he added.
