Bhattal urges CEC to restrain Badal in Dhuri

SANGRUR: Former chief minister and senior Congress leader, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal has slammed chief minister Parkash Singh Badal for going on a sangat darshan (public meetings) “spree” in Dhuri assembly segment before the upcoming bypoll.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, she also urged the chief election commissioner to ask the chief minister to refrain from holding sangat darshan programmes in Dhuri.

“Dhuri has been neglected by SAD-BJP government led by Badal with regard to development,” she alleged.

“Now with bypoll due to be held, Parkash Singh Badal has woken up from slumber and has been holding a two-phase sangat darshan programme against the spirit of the code of conduct,” Bhattal alleged.

She also said there is more presence of officials at the sangat darshan programmes of the chief minister than the common people.
