Cong asks Sukhbir to take up Guj farmers’ cause with BJP

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Congress on Saturday asked deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal to explain as to why he was not taking up the cause of Punjabi farmers of Gujarat, who were being displaced from their land under a state-sponsored programme, with the BJP.

In a statement here, All India Congress Committee national media panellist and Punjab Congress spokesman Jaiveer Shergill said the inability of the SAD to protect the interests of Punjabis was a warning signal for the Sikhs of Delhi as well as those in other states.

Shergill appealed to Punjabis to reject the SAD-BJP “unholy” alliance in the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi to teach them a lesson.
